4 days in Chiang Mai, Thailand

chiang mai thailand

It was a very spontaneous call by my mum to visit Chiang Mai, so when she asked me where to go for a short trip just to clear her leaves, I did a quick search on AirAsiaGo, and found Chiang Mai.

RM2,492.02 for 5 pax including 3 rooms for 3 nights

So it’s about RM 498 per pax which I think it’s a good price for last minute booking!

Day 1 in Chiang Mai

We hired a private car for our Chiang Mai, so it cost 200 baht per car (fit 6 people) for Airport pick up and return, it’s only 100baht per car each way!

As our flight touched down by 3.30pm, so we decided to checked in hotel and take a rest before going out for food hunts at the night market.

Royal Panerai Hotel

Simple yet affordable, good a short stay. Royal Panerai  Hotel is quite close to the city center and with a very affordable price as well, it’s within walking distance to Chiang Mai Night Market where you will find yourself overwhelmed by the super long night market!

Day 2 in Chiang Mai

Doi Suthep Temple –> Tiger Kingdom –> Long Neck Tribe Village

For One day Elephant Camp, Doi Suthep Temple is 1,300 baht per car that can fit 6 persons. But we opt out from Elephant Camp as we are travelling with elderly and go for the Tiger Kingdom instead.

Doi Suthep Temple

Entrance fee: 30 baht (50 baht if you take the cable car)

It’s a very long…..and stairs to go up to Doi Suthep Temple, but it wasn’t as long as Batu Cave, so the steps are still manageable.

Or you have the option to take the funicular cable car if you really can’t do the steps.

You have to take off your shoes before you enter the temple, there is a locker area located just in front of the entrance.

Tiger Kingdom

Hours: Daily 9am-6pm, you should assume that it will take between 2 1/2-4 hours for a visit.

The price for seeing the tiger are vary depends on the sizes. So it goes from the most expensive for baby cub as everyone loves it, and cheapest for the big cats.

You can go for their package too:

I did enjoy my time in Tiger Kingdom, especially the fear of touching the tiger but yet I’ve paid big ass to come in so I must at least touch it for once right.

Long Neck Tribe Village

This long neck tribe village is small but it’s closest to the Tiger Kingdom, so we decided to pay a visit. The story behind this tribe is actually quite sad, so if you have extra money just buy a small handcraft from them.

Day 3 in Chiang Mai

Doi Inthanon National Park –> Wachirathan Waterfall –> Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Nophamethanidon

For Doi inthanon : 3,500 baht per car include gasoline

Wachirathan Waterfall

There isn’t much to see but waterfall, but you can relax at the cafe next to the waterfall and chill~

Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon and Nophamethanidon

doi inthanon national park

I guess the main purpose of visiting Doi Inthanon are these 2 chedis/stupa.

Two Chedis/stupa on the main road 5 km wouth from the top of the main summit of Doi Inthanon. Naphamethinidon, meaning ‘by the strength of the land and air’ was build in 1987 to honour 60th birthday aniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Naphaphonphumisiri, meaning ‘being the strength of the air and the grace of the land’ was build in 1992 to honour 60th birthday anniversary of Queen Sirikit.

*Just trying to find our best way to take a picture with the stupa.

Chiang Mai must eat: Khao Soi (Curry Noodle)

    1. In Chiang Mai it’s really a loooong night market, mostly selling handcrafts and souvenirs, and there’s a big corner where you can hunt for all the foods!
