ANTE – Kuala Lumpur’s Premier Pork Steak Restaurant
It has been a while since my last visit to Publika even though I work around this area, my recent visit to ANTE Restaurant in Publika was an indulgence night with loads of craving satisfaction! Renowned as ‘Best Place for MEAT’ in KL by Time Out in 2015, ANTE definitely never put me down with all the amazing pork steaks they serves!
ANTE is Kuala Lumpur’s Premier Pork Steak Restaurant offering European casual all day dining with a focus on pork steak dishes, an extensive beverage menu is available with a selection of affordable fine wines. ANTE Publika has an indoor and outdoor dining areas which has about 10-15 tables to cater around 50 pax.
ANTE’s menu has always been revised and revamped yearly, to ensure that the team ups the ANTE, so to speak. Every dish that is listed on the menu has been extensively researched and further developed to ensure customer satisfaction. This updated menu will showcase ANTE’s main strength, meats. The signature pork steak category has increased to include a total of 4 cuts, each with its own signature sauce and accompaniments. Other parts of the menu has also been upgraded, such as the miso pork belly, a house smoked bacon salad as well as a braised pork shoulder stew, earmarked to be a crowd favourite.
A meal should start with a great appetizer starter!
Miso Pork Belly (RM 19)
12 hour slow cooked pork belly to seal the meat in its own juices, miso glaze, herbed crust (oven baked bread crumbs mixed with miso, butter and thyme herbs). A killer for all pork belly lover, for such a Korean BBQ addict myself, this is definitely a must for samgyeopsal lover!
House Smoked Bacon (RM 19)
Three (3) slices of well cooked 8mm thick bacon seared to give it a slight crust, the bacon is made from raw at ANTE, where the kitchen team manicures, brines and air dry before smoking it. Served with seeded mustard.
Tasting Platter (RM46)
A cold platter consists of house-cured salmon with smoked duck breast as well as Jamon Iberico ham. Served in a platter together with extra virgin olive oil infused rockmelon and ricotta. A slice of Lescure butter and Sourdough bread which makes it a complete best of ANTE in a platter!!
Crispy Trotter Salad (RM29)
An exclusive salad only available at ANTE PUBLIKA, pork trotter skin is fried till crispy and adorned on top of a mixed lollo lettuce, young papaya and mango with pecan nuts, promegranate seeds and a french vinaigrette dressing.
Garden Duck Salad (RM 27)
An ANTE favourite, duck breast slices with baby romaine, tossed with grilled watermelons, cherry tomatoes, pecan and a zesty orange brandy dressing. A dish that highlights the juiciness of duck breasts complimented by the sweetness of grilled watermelons, cherry tomatoes and the orange brandy dressing.
Both Crispy Trotter Salad and Garden Duck Salad are good choice if you think meat is something ‘too over’ for your appetizer starter, then try this! =D
The pasta section has also been given equal care and attention, bringing in different styles such as the Salmon Al Fredo, Smoked Duck Pesto and a Spicy Arrabiatta. Not forgetting ANTE’s infamous Char Siu Curry Cream Pasta and it’s Carbonara.
Char-siu Curry Cream Pasta (RM 33)
If you’re looking for something special for pasta, the char-siu curry pasta is really one of a kind, I doubt you will be able to find this else where. House made char siu on top of a bed of linguine tossed with curry, eggplant ragout and shimeiji mushrooms.
Carbonara (RM 30)
A classic dish that ANTE has made into one of it’s signature dishes, the pasta is made with cream, pork bacon, button mushrooms and egg yolks. Go for the Carbonara if you’re cream pasta fan, the carbonara is just nice! It’s creamy but you won’t feel overwhelmed by the cream.
Garlic Olio (RM 26)
Linguine cooked with fried garlic, pork bacon, button mushrooms and a slight touch of wine.
ANTE Signature Chargirilled Pork Steaks!
The pride and joy of ANTE, featuring different cuts of the pig, grilled to ensure flavour and texture, each dish is paired with different sauces and carefully selected components to complete the dish. All cuts are handpicked and manicured before cooking, ensuring quality in every slice. After cooking, all steaks are temperature checked for doneness before serving.
Pork Striploin Diane (RM 42) **Recommended
Tender lean meat with strip of charred fat, cooked Diane style on a bed of green pea mash with roasted Russet potatoes and mushroom brandy sauce.
Pork Rib Eye (RM 52)
Cap of marbled dark meat with tender eye of loin and buttery charred fat, on the bone. Served with truffle butter sauce, roasted Russet potatoes, frisee and oak leaf lettuce.
Pork Shoulder (RM 52)
Well marbled cut of dark meat on the bone. Served with garlic rosemary sauce, mashed potato, frisee & oak lettuce.
Pork Striploin Black Pepper Sauce (RM 38)
Tender lean meat with a strip of charred fat, served with caramelised onions, fries, frisee and oak lettuce.
Dessert for sweet tooth!
Almost no meal is complete without a dessert, whether you’re ice cream lover, cake lover or chocolate lover, ANTE has it all for you!
Apple Crumble (RM 18)
Green apples cooked and then layered with crispy, buttery crumble. Served with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel syrup.
Varlrhona Chocolate Delice (RM 21)
A layered dessert using feuilltine as a crisp base, the top layer is entirely made up of Varlhona dark chocolate. Adorned with cocoa soil, almond flakes and earl grey tea infused cream and fresh berries. A signature dessert available only at ANTE
Cremè brûlée (RM 21)
Prepared in the traditional french style, the custard is sous vide to ensure even cooking, then topped with snow sugar and caramelized with a blow torch served in a glass jar. A cracking dessert, followed by a spoonful of delectable custard.

From ricotta cheese, to smoking their own bacon for certain dishes as well as handpicking and manicuring every piece of pork steak that is served to its customers. Helmed by a team of young local chefs who are armed with a can do attitude and the willingness to understand, respect and challenge the traditional cooking styles while stamping their own styles on the food.

Where all listed wines are sold at a 20% discount. Carrying a total of over 40 wines handpicked from both new and old world wines, all wine bottles are available on a first come first served basis as stocks are limited.
ANTE carries Carlsberg draught, which we serve straight from the tap, guaranteeing it’s freshness. Prices start from RM 17 for a Happy Hour Pint ( 3pm to 7pm at both outlets ) to RM 23 for a Carlsberg Pint at any other time of the day. We also carry imported bottled beers such as Stella Artois, Corona and Hoegaarden Blanc. Additionally, we also serve both the Somersby Cider ( Apple and Pear variants) as well as the new Hoegaarden Rose which is popular with ladies at the moment.
