Japan x Tapas = Japas @ Kouzu
When we speak of T.T.D.I, first thing in mind is the stretch of busy neighbourhood right opposite Pasar T.T.D.I, but Kouzu Malaysia, located in this familiar neighbourhood yet not in so ‘commercial’ area, it’s at Lorong Datuk Sulaiman, and if you’re not living in this area, even me myself has been living around here for almost 8 years, does not know the existence of such peaceful neighbourhood with such unique restaurant. Well, thanks to Mr. Andrew from Kouzu and Racheal, the Founder of Foodilifecious for this opportunity to dig out this precious gem!
Kouzu serves Japanese tapas, donburi, yakitori, pizzas and pastas, and they also have a really good selection of alcohol beverages from Sake to Beer to Stout to Wine as well as Whiskey. Kouzu simply means ‘compilation of good deeds and fortune’, is not just an ordinary Japanese restaurant, if you’re expecting to see sushi or ramen, you’re probably in a wrong place but stay put if you’re keen to explore something beyond sushi and ramen. What’s more important, the price they have is really affordable for those looking for good Japanese foods yet doesn’t have budget! 😀
One of the best that I’ve discovered in Kouzu is their Beef Sirloin!***
It was really something new to my taste bud and I love each and every beef sirloin dishes served on my table!
Stone Grilled Sirloin (RM 27)
The hot sizzling slices of Sirloin dripped with special sauce, serve with potatoes as sides.
Grilled Truffled Beef with Onsen Tomago (RM 29)
Yakitori – Sirloin (RM 15/skewer)
Digging further to Yakitori & Sushi:
Rock Lobster (RM 15/skewer)
You read it right, it’s lobster! RM15 for a stick of great lobster that goes best with wine!
Kouzu Unagi Roll (RM 28)
Baked Roll Sushi, it looks like our popiah but it’s definitely not one, it doesn’t look good but it has a really special chemistry that make your tongue hyped, it taste really good!
Something that best go with your beer:
Chicken Wings (RM 6/stick)
Other than Japanese yakitori, here comes the ‘westernized’ Japanese cuisine:
Sashimi Salad with Wasabi Mayo (RM 28)
Japanese Escargot Pizza (RM 29)
Pan Seared Foie Gras and Tuna (RM 28)
This is really a dish that is value for money, I mean…where else can you get foie gras AND a large chunk of tuna for just RM28? If you found one, do let me know!
Creamy Baked Oysters (RM 19)
This is the truth that you can get FIVE (5) Oysters for ONLY RM19!
Sanuki Udon Pasta (RM 18)
This Udon Pasta has a little spicy taste but it makes the whole udon has a better savour and is one of the most popular dish in Japan as well!
Last but not least, I definitely recommend this donburi:
Ishiyaki Stoned Bowl (RM 35)
